Parachuting & Skydiving with Skydive Academy at the Peterlee DZ in North East England

Parachuting & Skydiving have taken place at the Peterlee Drop Zone (DZ) in the North East of England for 28 years. The DZis central for Tyneside and Teesside, 25 minutes drive from Newcastle, 20 minutes from Middlesbrough and 15 minutes from Sunderland & Durham; with good dual carriageway access from Northumberland & North Yorkshire and is adjacent to 7 day a week public transport routes.

The Drop Zone operates in unrestricted Air Space flying aircraft capable of dropping parachutists from up to 15,000ft; a 16 place Cessna Grand Caravan and a 4 place Cessna 182.

The Peterlee DZ can cater for the complete beginner as well as for all categories of Parachutist, has hosted both Regional and British National Championships, and British Parachute Association Instructor Courses. The Peterlee DZ is recognised as a Significant Area of Sporting Interest, and as of 18 May 15 is rated by TripAdvisor as the top rated Adrenalin Activity in Durham, the 1^st out of 20 outdoor attractions in Durham and the 3^rd out of 49 attractions in Durham, and was awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence in 2015.

The beginner need have no previous experience and can enrol on either the Tandem, Solo Static Line (SL) or Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) Courses:

The DZ is operated by Peterlee Parachute Club based at Shotton Airfield, 10 miles east of Durham City & 2 miles West of Peterlee with training courses run by Skydive Academy Ltd, both of which can be contacted by email at peterleeparachiteclub@gmail.com & info@skydiveacademy.org.uk respectively, or by telephone 0191 517 1234 during scheduled office opening hours 10am - 5pm Monday to Friday. The Drop Zone can operate 7 days a week the year round but tends to operate Wed pm, Fri pm, Weekends & Bank Holiday Mondays during British Summer Time and weekends Feb through Nov. The Peterlee DZ also tends to open Mon - Fri during the 2^nd weeks of British Summer Time (Apr thro Oct) except for May & Aug when we open Wed thro Mon over the Bank Holiday Weekends.

Pre jump revision training will be run daily during the June Progression Week at 09:30am and there will be opportunity to retake the full Category System Basic Training (CSBT) Syllabus from 6pm - 9:30pm on Fri 12 Jun; pre booking required to retake the full CSBT Syllabus as there will be limited availability - phone 01915171234.
