Well 2018 has ben a record year for the Peterlee Drop Zone (DZ), with over 10,000 jumps being completed in 1 year for the first time ever at our DZ. That brings the all time total number of participants making their first ever jumps at our DZ to 40,000, over 20,000 of them being Tandem Skydives. Notably in 2018 there were no Solo Student injuries sustained, no Tandem Student Landing Injuries and no Solo Student Canopy Malfunctions. All in all a Milestone Year for SkydiveAcademy.org.uk & Peterlee Drop Zone. One important factor in many of those additional jumps being made is down to the conversion of the DZ's Primary Parachute Aircraft to a Supervan 900; with the fitting of a Garrett Engine with in the order of 50% more horse power than our previous PT6 Engine. This gives us a lift capacity of 60 jumpers up & down to 15,000ft in just 1 hour as opposed to 39 jumpers up & down to 12,000ft in 1 hour 6 mins - a considerable increase.
